Southport, NC

Southport is a city in Brunswick County, NC, near the mouth of the Cape Fear River. Though its population hovers around 4,000, the town’s annual Fourth of July Festival attracts 40,000–50,000 visitors.

Steeped in history and picturesque beauty, Southport, NC, was an easy choice for Coastal Living Magazine’s title of "America's Happiest Seaside Town." The town’s 500-year maritime history is rife with stories of pirates and privateers, antebellum Southern belles, and blockade runners. Today, the area is as popular as it has ever been.

Residents and visitors alike are charmed by Southport’s friendly streets, boutique shops, and local art galleries. It’s easy to spend the day wandering around the docks for a crab-cake sandwich or steamed shrimp at a waterfront restaurant.

The film industry has taken notice of Southport, as well. The town has served as the backdrop of several popular films and TV shows, including "Safe Haven," " A Walk To Remember," "The Secret Life of Bees," and "Under The Dome." Local tours take guests around the spots captured by these and other productions.
